[1] The Arditi were specialist behind-the-lines commando units, used for parachute insertions, sabotage of bridges and other targets, and disruptive raids against Allied positions. The 112th Company (landing/aquatic) also performed covert maritime operations, aquatic infiltration, reconnaissance, and amphibious sabotage, including the use of frogmen, landing from fast patrol boats and assault craft, etc. The 113th was equipped with the SPA-Viberti AS42 "Sahariana". The company had 24 of these specialized desert reconnaissance vehicles. Also known as "Camionettisti" (truck drivers).

[2] The Compagnie Presidiarie (garrison companies) were made up of soldiers, including officers, not entirely suitable for "war efforts", and included:
 - sick people who were not fully recovered or subject to relapses,
 - lightly wounded, who had passed the age for the territorial militia during the war years,
 - mobilized already belonging to the Category II, (men fit for service but received lighter training due to a surplus of manpower in peacetime).
 - married with numerous offspring,
 - perhaps even widowers, etc.
and they were intended, in fact, for the defence of the territory behind the first and second lines or for coastal defence in theaters of war. They served to support the numerous needs of any large army engaged in combat: quartermasters, writers/secretaries, warehouse workers, cooks, bakers etc., but also as military police together with the Carabinieri. They depended on the regiment for which they served as a transit depot for the soldiers going to or from the front.
