Notes:
This organization applied to the formations arriving at the East Front starting September 1941 to secure the rear areas (Line-of-Communication zones). The men were of various age groups; and not all equipment authorized to those units remaining in Hungary was taken along. The infantry and cavalry companies only had three platoons. They were commanded by the brigade headquarters of the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 21st, and 24th Infantry Brigades, plus an assortment of sub-units drawn from all over Hungary. Not all units sent with the brigades have been identified. (See table below.)
The Hungarians did not designate these formations as "Security Brigades", but instead added 100 to their numbers (102, 105, 108, 121, and 124). The Germans did designate them as Sicherungs-Brigade, but this was to indicate purpose, and does not reflect Hungarian usage. However, to avoid confusion with the full-strength infantry brigades, they are shown here as "Security" Brigades.
On 17.02.1942, all infantry brigades (those in Hungary as well as the five on the East Front) were redesignated as light divisions, but with no change in organization or strength.
