NOTES:
[1] On 15.09.1939, the Director Operations and Intelligence Section was redesignated as Director General of Operations. His purview included Intelligence, Operations, and now Coastal Defense (the latter formerly under the Director of Air and Technical Services).
[2] On 13.09.1939 LtCol Hector Daniel succeeded by Colonel John Holthouse.
[3] On 15.09.1939, the position of Director of Air and Technical Services was split into the Director-General of Technical Services (now under BG Francis R.G. Hoare), with the Deputy Directors for Technical Service, namely
   LTC K.C.S. Layzell (Equipment),
   LTC Schoon (Workshops),
   LTC P.C. Miller (Technical Development),
   MAJ C.D. Trollip (Staff Officer Administration).
Furthermore, as of 01.11.39 MAJ C.G. Trevett (Mechanical Transport).
Colonel John Holthouse continued as the Director of Air Sevices. He was upgraded to Director General on 03.11.1939.
