Divisione Autotrasportabile di Tipo Africa Settentrionale 1940, 10.06.40

Note:
The word autotrasportabile is difficult to translate. The word that comes to mind for this strange Italian unit is 'truck-moveable', as 'truck-borne' is not exactly right. The 'Africa Settentrionale (i.e. North African) version of these divisions were a mixture of motorized and truck-borne transported units. The motorized units were the artillery regiments, services and specialist troops, wheras the infantry regiments were truck borne. The Autotrasportabile Divisions did not have all their trucks directly allotted to them, rather, some of them where to be provided by the Corps Autogrupi. The same applied for the tank units, which were assigned to the Corps at the beginning of the war. In some cases, the divisions were completely on foot, as the motor vehicles had been given other divisions. None of the motorcycle infantry companies were ever formed. These divisions did not have any Blackshirt (CCNN) Legions attached.
